A Trip to H Mart: Teaching My Kids Through Food, Culture & Adventure

This week, I took my kids to H Mart because I wanted to expose them to something new. As a parent, I believe some of life’s best lessons happen outside the classroom, and food is one of the most powerful ways to learn about different cultures.
Walking through the store, we discovered ingredients we had never used before, asked questions, and challenged ourselves to step outside our comfort zones. The next morning, we cooked Korean pancakes with eggs for breakfast, and they were absolutely delicious.
Moments like these remind me that cooking is about so much more than making a meal. It’s about curiosity, family, culture, confidence, and creating memories together.
That’s the heart behind Common Chefs. I want to inspire families to cook together, explore cuisines from around the world, and raise children who are open to trying new things.
Every recipe tells a story, and every culture has something beautiful to share. I hope you’ll join us as we continue this journey—one meal, one country, and one family memory at a time.
